Are we bringing outlanders back? I think it would be cool if there were more easily beat ones so that people get more shit more often. I'd be willing to play little shitty ones. XD Like fuckin' goblins. Or dire rats. Fuckin' rats.

I was thinking about it and wouldn't it be kinda fun if after we got some more people playing, if we could create some alts to create like... I don't know. XD Guilds to compete against. Also get David back because as much as was a creeper he posted a lot and took it (almost too much) really seriously enough to be competitive.

Suggestions: Bring back the class system from the really really old days, where you had a definite path.

Also, Outlanders were EPIC.
(I've been through 3 of the current 4 Avaren revivals, meaning 2,3, and 4.)

And, as for Guilds, I'd happily re-instate the guild that I tried to start in Avaren 3 (The Nightwalker's Guild)

The class system was interesting. I did like and enjoy it. Though, there were plenty of problems tied up within it, the least of which being determining advancement at certain levels. We initially had a test thing, where someone would post with you to actually do a test in character to determine advancement past a certain point. That didn't do very well, as it was contingent upon certain members being available to post with the candidate. Secondly, we had a more informal version, where they just submitted a few posts for judging, I believe.

Neither ultimately seemed to work out terribly well, as one of the primary ideas was that rejection/failing of the test was likely a detriment to RPing, so it very rarely would happen. Also, some of the post requirements were rather high, especially as post counting was disabled in the OOC sections. Now, a couple Avarens after the system was scrapped, with people being able to transfer characters over from one site to another and the OOC post thing being disabled, older members will likely have greatly inflated post counts. Still, I would dislike the idea of older characters being rejected on this basis, as it then discourages bringing back older characters.

Ultimately, when it was removed, I'm pretty sure it was due to questioning the people of the site whether they wanted to keep it or ditch it. They wanted, as a whole, to get rid of it. Though, I think the part where it was a bit of a deviation from the standard template for RP sites, giving the site a bit more than just a bunch of boards and a vague story to post along to, ultimately brought more attention and members to the site.


The next question is about gold. I think it was gone before the class system, even. I think the problem was in the prices. A ton of stuff took a ton of posts, which most people just couldn't afford. I think it might be neat, it would just have to be reworked. For instance, with guilds, I think they might be free to make, yet perhaps you could use gold to buy a guild hall as a sub-board somewhere if you have enough as a group?

At any rate, when Avaren gets released again, I don't want it to be "just another RP site". I would like it to have its own gimmicky(best way I could think to describe it) kinda features to set itself apart from other sites.

Also, the site will probably not be released until at least sometime in late November to December at the earliest. In other words, it would wait until Thanksgiving or Christmas break to get done. XD
