Hey there!

So maybe it's just my new glasses, but i'm getting a headache from the stars....

but I also thought about a new code for the site that made boxes with news and a cbox and important links, maybe even a word count on the left side....

any thoughts?

So...basically, you want the header table to be on the left side instead of the top. XD

I have seen this recent fad in RPing sites, along with people screaming about "face claims" and "play-bys".

Though, as far as a chatbox goes, this is only the current incarnation of the war that has been waged since the beginning of Avaren. Want me to post some of the other arguments concerning chatboxes that have already gone on? XD

Man, I hate those word count things. All that extra code to make stuff 'shiny' makes me weep for people with dial-up. XD If you need a word count, google it. There's like 29304234 websites made JUST for that, plus, you know, word will do it. Ffffuuuu

....So we don't do the word count. I also don't like the stars, and I think a chatbox might be kind of fun. If you can give me ideas for a new skin I can work on making one. Spiffy coding someone might have to walk me through but I don't see why we can't at least try it?

It could also help with getting new members, I dunno.

And I'm glad the stars don't just bother me. I love how we've kept the same look for a while, but I think we should change it just a little bit? I can help with the graphics if they are needed, and maybe just have the option of different skins in the member profiles? That way... people can choose what to have as their default when they sign in?

so much to offense to az! anyway, yeah, I like the idea of different skins. if people love the stars it can remain the default skin and stuff, but we should be able to pick and choose things to our liking. customize, etc.

1) Side table- well, it may be the new fad, but I really have no problem with it. Main reason we did nothing to work on it was because when I initially suggested it long ago, it met with stiff opposition. People vehemently opposed the very thought of adding crap there. Though, I think it would look nice, especially as computer screens get larger with increases in technology, while the boards are set at a certain size, so we've got a lot of free space to accommodate for now. Might as well put the header table there.

2) Stars- to be frank, we've changed once already. They used to twinkle, but after we had the forum resize thing (it got slimmer), I removed them cuz they bothered me a bit. When the site was wider, it didn't really matter because they were neat and way back and out of the way. In conclusion: I will not remove the stars until we have a decent replacement background, though I have absolutely no problem with removing them. For backgrounds, I'd prefer something that meshes well with the current color scheme, while preferably being a texture and not a picture (most pictures end up repeating and I find I strongly dislike tiled images).

3) Skins- I dun wanna spend time getting colors and crap to match up, sorry to say. Though, I have no problem with other people (like Orca) making skins to put up as alternates. Just, I dunno, suggest alternative color schemes you might wanna see and we'll see what we can do.

4) Chat box- Biggest thing I want to stress when making any changes is that, with crossfury and the multiple money hack, we already have several somewhat lengthy codes that rearrange stuff and change profile stuff. So, ultimately, I want to not put in every neat coding crap just because it seems neat-ish, if the cost is slowing down the site. From my experience, it has seemed that chat boxes often do end up with longer loading times or having trouble loading. Thus, I do strongly encourage, say, chatting via PM, OOC chat threads and messengers.

1. So what I was thinking is that the side borad/prettty skin could be the default, just to catch more people's eye (like orca said), and this skin could be an option in the profile. So if people wanted this initial skin, they could do so by selecting it in their profile. Then if they have dial-up or a slow connection, the extra coding won't effect them.

2. I could find a pattern to use on the new skin that is less busy, or a slate color all together (still matching the theme colors of course)

3. I have the coding for a few skins. All I need to do is change graphics and colors. Say the word and I will do it for you and for orca and give you the finished product.

4. And that works just fine. I just kinda threw that out there for an idea. No cbox is fine with me =)
