Kalim found himself laying down at the side of the lake, staring up at the sky. Heh, who wanted to work when there were so many cool shapes to see in the sky! There was a hippo! Here came a giraffe! The giraffe and hippo collided with one another and devoured each other, only to turn into a giant ice cream cone! Man, that only reminded Kalim that he hadn't eaten yet today.
Oh well, can't be helped. In order to get something to eat, he'd have to walk all the way back to town. All this lying around doing nothing had made him far too exhausted to do something like that. Maybe later. Sitting upright and holding his hand in front of himself, he conjured up a small globe of flame. Swinging his arm as though he were about to try skipping a stone, he tossed the ball of fire at the lake's surface. With a hiss of steam and a small burst of sparks, the fire went out when it made contact with the lake.
After about half a dozen more of these, Kalim lay on his back once again. It seemed like a perfect time for a nap.

Irridian had taken the day off, the sign on the door to her shop remaining in the closed position and the art pieces laying still with no one to view them for a day. The shop had only been open for a week and a day now, and seeing as though the ledger was still in the red, she couldn’t afford to pay someone else to tend it, though she figured the red ink would soon be replaced with blue, by the end of the month, it had to stay closed for her to take a day to herself.
She had packed a picnic lunch to bring with her, taking several different kinds of fruit and some fresh bread and cheese as well as a bottle of fresh blackberry wine, her mother had purchased at the market a day earlier. It was all packed neat and tidy in her carry bag as she walked, dressed in a light summery dress of the lightest green. She hadn’t bothered with shoes, the lake wouldn’t call for them and it would eventually be just another thing to carry on her way back home later.
She stepped onto the lakes shore, her feet feeling the warmth of the ground beneath her and she moved forward, her platinum locks swaying gently with her stride. She saw a guy throwing fire into the lake, not far from her and it caught her full attention. Oh, she’d seen magic before, seen a man once turn into a alligator then slide himself into the swamp even, but it always amazed her at how these souls could do these things. She even, though she’d not admit it to anyone, daydreamed of being a great sorceress, this of course was nothing more than a child fantasy as she had not an inkling of magic in her being.
She walked over to the guy just as he began to lay on his back and noticed him closing his eyes, but still, she continued over.
“Hi, pretty neat trick there, with the fire.” She stated as in greeting, her voice just as friendly as it always was.
She was standing just above where his head would have been laying looking down at him with a smile curving up the corners of her lips, her Amber gaze absolutely sparkling with delight at finding such an interesting soul out here on what she though was going to be a very quite time to herself.

"What?!" Kalim jumped slightly as the new arrival spoke to him. He hadn't hear her arrive and had though himself completely alone. Once his heart calmed down a bit and he realized he wasn't being jumped by a dragon or something, he actually answered what she said.
"You think?" He said, sitting up. He always liked to show off with neat little tricks to get compliments. Looking her over, he noticed that she had a picnic basket with her. It was only now that he realized how super hungry he was. Perhaps she would be willing to share a meal with him if they were friends!
"I could do it again, if you want. I'm also good at juggling apples...on fire!"

The moment he jumped in surprise Irridian jumped back a step or two as well, being startled by him but hen, as he calmed so did she and the usual bright sunny look that usually fell over her soft features returned.
“Oh my, she started I truly do apologize for frightening you, I didn’t mean to, I should think more before walking up on someone like that.” She apologized and then smiled as he offered to show her more magic tricks, though she couldn’t see the use of igniting apples on fire as they were just to yummy to be wasted in any manner.
After his invitation she reached inside her bag and pulled out a small blanket and with a flick of her wrists, she spread it out before her and to his right then situated herself down next to him.
She wasn’t always this trusting of people, but figured that in the way she had startled him and his short reaction without any dangerous outcome, he might just be ok, so she would sit with him and be entertained at the very least. Who knew, maybe she might actually make a friend today, for a change. It was so hard to do in these times, people were just so distrusting, and usually standoffish.
She settled her bag on the blanket and drew out of it a plastic plate and then started piling fruit and cheese and bread onto it. Really, it was more than she would eat alone and so she smiled at him and asked, “Would you like some?”
She raised a brow slightly in his direction then and laughed slightly.
“Though I am afraid I don’t have any apples today.” She winked then grabbed a piece of cheese and took a small nibble.

"Hey now," Kalim said, sounding highly defensive, "You didn't frighten me. I was just a bit startled, that's all." Seriously, who did she think he was? He wasn't a coward, that was for sure. He'd just have to make sure she realized that.
And then, she offered him some of her picnic. His eyes went a little bit wider at the thought of food. "I would love some!" He replied enthusiastically. He wondered how he might be able to impress her with his magical skills. "Apples really are my specialty," he thought out loud, "But I can still do some neat tricks if you like."
Picking up a piece of bread, he set a piece of cheese on top. Holding out his other hand, he conjured up a small ball of flame. Holding it close to the other hand, he slowly melted the cheese onto the piece of bread. He offered the first piece to the nice lady who shared her food with him, "Wanna give it a try?"

Irridian kept herself from rolling her eyes as he animatedly explain his lack of fright. What was it with guys anyway? She wouldn’t comment though, she didn’t know him well enough to tease so just let it lie where it stood.
She smiled as he accepted her offer of food, most guys would have, it seemed that they ate everything in site more often than not. This was just one of the things that endeared them, to her, they were such an interesting gender. She watched closely as he picked up the bread and cheese and then er eyes got huge as he heated them together so easily.
“That’s pretty handy.” She commented as he held the piece of melted cheese-bread to her.
She took if offered treat and smiled at him , placing the one piece of cheese she’d nibbled and setting it on her lap, she took the other up and took a bite.
“Like I said, very handy, thanks” she smiled over at him and continued to take yet another bite. “Sure takes the time off of frying it in a pan” She commented .
She was beginning to like this boy more and more, maybe there was a chance at becoming friends after all. Wouldn’t that be something. She thought on it for a minute, and continued to smile at the thought as she finished her new snack.
“Well, that was yummy.” She stated and then reached into her bag and pulled the bottle of wine out and set it on the blanket, then reached back in and pulled a glass out.
“You want a drink?” She opened and poured the red contents into the glass and offered it to him. “I only have the one glass though, didn’t think that far ahead to maybe having someone to share with,” She stated.
“Oh and hmm, I have no idea what to ask you to do, as I have no idea what you can do, but I would love to see you do stuff, it always amazes me how you magic folk can do things like that.” She smiled.

"Saves a bundle on fuel during the winter!" Kalim said, still as excited as ever. His skills with magic were one of his major passions in life, so he loved nothing more than talking about what he could potentially do with others. "Not to mention it makes trips across the country a lot more comfortable, when you can have a cooked meal every night."
"No thanks." He said firmly to her offer of a drink, picking up another piece of bread and cheese instead and melting them together in the same fashion as he had for her. It was nothing against her, he just wasn't much of a drinker. He never had been. Didn't take well to the taste of alcohol.
"As for what else I can do..." He stopped there, lost in thought for a few moments. "Well, I guess anything that involves fire mostly. that's where my specialty lies. Fire fire and more fire! I've always been interested in it, ever since I was little. Imagine my surprise when I found I could control it at will."
