Tiy broke the surface of the lake and threw back her hair. She smiled as she turned around and kicked off the bottom of the lake and kicked her feet gently as she waved her hands. She was just hovering in one place, looking up at the sky. It was such a wonderful day and she sought not to waste it spending it indoors. And what not a better way to spend the day in the sun and in the water. She always had found swimming to be relaxing, and in this case, cooling. It was a warm day and she was enjoying herself.
She looked over her shoulder and looked at her things laying out on the sand. There was a warm blanket laying there for her when it came time to lay in the sun and dry. Some people would think that she's crazy, since it was still winter, that she was out here in the water, but the water always seemed to stay so warm, or maybe she was just used to the cold.
Sighing lightly, she decided to head back to the blanket and settled down on it, laying on her back and her hands behind her head as she closed her eyes and smiled up at the sun. Her tunic clung to her tiny figure and she began to wait as she began to dry.

Gabriel hadn't seen her in the water, or when she had approached the shore. Walking in a rather random fashion he had found the lake edge. No reason in particular to be here, just on his way between one place and the next. Gabriel never hurried anywhere. He always left way too early, so there wasn't a rush. If something came up, he had time to deal with it.
He found his life considerably less stressful this way.
The goshawk that he called Elieskin, or Eli for short, flew somewhere overhead, a black silhouette when the sun hit right. Like a ghost he lowered briefly, black-barred belly visible for only a moment. Then he was gone again. Gabriel didn't worry much. He came and went, a free soul.
He would be back.
Gabriel paused, eyes finding the small form on the lake. How easy to slip up and slit her throat, but he doubted it would get him anywhere. Besides, appearances weren't anything. She had to be something weird, if she could swim and stand the water at this time of year. A bit wary but not unnerved, Gabriel stepped closer, silver eyes narrowed to slits. As he called out, his face went back to normal, even slightly more cheerful than he usually allowed it.
No sense in looking unfriendly, yes?
"Hello there!"
Why he sought out company was beyond him. Maybe it was because he was bored, because he had time to kill. Or more likely he was curious to discover what she may be. He kept his distance, standing on his path and watching, wondering if she had even heard.
Curious indeed.

Heaving a heavy sigh she began to feel the slight chill of the air. She murmured a spell to warm herself up and ran her hands down the full length of herself. Sitting up, she swore she could hear someone coming. But the lake was a public place, the only time she had to worry was if someone didn't recognize her as a Ruling council member and tried to rob her. She chuckled lightly at that thought and remembered the last time she had been robbed. Those sorry ass robbers ran away after being set aflame. If they were to rob er again, they would be recognized by undoubtedly recognizable scaring from the flames.
Hearing someone call out in a friendly tone, she turned her head and looked in their direction, it was a man, whoes demeanor came off friendly enough, but she was still warry. Smiling brightly back at him, she stayed where she was, but waved polietly. "Hello there," she grinned. "Enjoying the weather?"
(Ooc: sorry for shortness, I'm on my phone.)

ooc: S'alright, I'm keeping it fairly short here myself.
bic:
He vaguely recognized her, and the little voice in his head told him it should probably be more than that. However, no name came to mind. Gabriel did better with faces than names anyway. For a beat he said nothing, merely walking further down to the shore but still standing out of range.
Well, of most things.
The weather. Well, honestly, Gabriel couldn't think of much else to say that would be at all interesting either, but still, it seemed ... ah, well. The common courtesy, to ask about the weather. Gabriel glanced upward, as if checking to see if it had changed at all in the last few seconds. It hadn't. Surprise. Eli crouched in one of the trees, but Gabriel didn't let his gaze linger on the bird, merely sweeping it back down to the shore where the woman sat.
While she seemed to find it easy to just lay there, Gabriel found himself almost constantly shifting his gaze around. He tried not to sigh or blink to much, or fidget otherwise. Well, standing on such an open space it wasn't unlike one to feel uncomfortable, unsafe. Gabriel was just being cautious, right? He finally made himself settle, watching her through slightly shaggy, charcoal hair.
"It's all right. Good for some things." He gave a slight shrug, leaving it open to her interpretation. "Like swimming?" A slight tone of amusement worked in to his voice - kidding. Gabriel didn't think anyone could pay him enough gold to get in that lake, but obviously it didn't bother her very much.
He was quite curious as to why.
"You look like you had fun though." A few more steps. Quiet advancement with his voice.

Waiting to hear what he would say and watching him, she dug her toes in the sand and placed her hands on her knees. The sand was chilly further down, so she decided to dig them in just a couple inches so that her feet would not freeze. She smiled at him as he looked around, as if trying to decide weather the weather was good or not. She chuckled lightly to herself and his eyes landed on something above them for a moment, but then back to her as he it was good for some things. She nodded.
"Like Swimming?"
She laughed at the joking tone in his voice about her strange swim in the water. She nodded lightly and then smiled at him, standing slightly as he came closer to her. She wasn't sure what to make of him, but he seemed nice enough. He said it looked like she had fun though. She nodded at him and smiled. "Indeed I did. I suppose it's a little strange of me to be able to stand the chill, but I guess I am just used to it." She walked up to him and held out a hand to him. "I'm Tiy Memnon, by the way, sir." she greeted friendly, waiting to see what his reaction would be, or if she would get a name in return.

Getting 'used' to the cold seemed like something you would inherit. He could see the tribes of the north men being 'used' to the cold, having spent the last five god-forsaken generations sitting in ice-packed huts. This slim, strange woman was not one of those bullish north men, not by any stretch of the imagination. So naturally, he doubted her. This lady was something else, he would bet on it.
Tiy - ..... Tiy Memnon.
Yea, he thought he knew that name. A few hours from now he would probably remember why he knew that name and regret not killing her. He took the hand with some reluctance - contact wasn't a favorite of his.
"Gabriel." He gave nothing further, feeling nothing required. "You're just enjoying the water, then? No business to attend to today?"
Kind of like he didn't have any business to attend to. Right. He should ... get going. But instead he stayed, wondering. It would be all too hilarious if he killed her, and then discovered that was his assigned job. To get rid of this Tiy Memnon.
Who was she? Why did that name sound familiar. Huh.

He seemed a little distracted around her, his mind was a thousand miles away from where they were currently. She wondered what was on his mind, but when she gave him her name, he seemed to recognize her. She smiled lightly as he shook her proffered hand and then pulled it away after the polite amount of time. Gabriel... the blessed one.... the messenger. She wondered if he lived up to his name's meaning... but you never knew.
"Any business?" she asked, thinking about it. "Well.. The Ruling Council is meeting tonight, so I imagine that I am called to meet my companions there this evening. But as for the day... it's my day to take it easy." she stated, holding her hands behind her back, a gentle grin on her face.
